Mayday! A Campaign for Child Protection in the Family Court of Australia

27 April 2009 - Media Release

THE NATION SPEAKS OUT AGAINST CHILD ABUSE IN YOUTUBE CAMPAIGN

Professionally produced YouTube videos. Each video contains petition comments from that state. Each outlines how a child the signatory knows is at risk because of the shared parenting laws. Under the Family Law Act it is illegal to identify anyone involved in a FCA matter, so those who have made these comments are so desperate for help they are prepared to risk prosecution by commenting on a public petition.

The parents in these stories have agreed to be interviewed but by law cannot be identified. If interviewed for radio their voices need to be disguised.

The actors were given a 500 word precis of their parents story and then phoned them. Many were very emotional during filming. One actress was so moved she wants to write a play about the issue.
